Is Blind Listening Test really free?

Yes. Both the web version and the VST3/AU plugin are free, with no account, login, or payment.

Are my audio files uploaded anywhere?

No. All loudness analysis and playback happen locally in the plugin on your computer, or in your browser when using the web version. Your audio files are never uploaded to or stored on any server.

What audio formats are supported?

WAV, AIFF, FLAC, and MP3.

How accurate is the loudness measurement?

The measurement follows ITU-R BS.1770 and is verified against the EBU's official loudness test files, reading within 0.05 LU of every published value. See the manual for details and how to repeat the test yourself.

Why does the LUFS value differ from my DAW's meter for mono files?

Mono files are measured as played: reproduced on both outputs, which reads about 3 LU higher than a single-channel measurement. This keeps the matching correct for what you actually hear. Stereo files match other BS.1770 meters directly.

What is the difference between the web version and the plugin?

They share the same features and loudness matching. The plugin runs inside a DAW as a VST3 or AU; the web version runs in your browser with nothing to install.

How does Export work?

Export saves every loaded track as a WAV named by its current letter (A.wav, B.wav, etc.), with the loudness match and blind order baked in. An optional name field adds a prefix to each file (Name_A.wav). The web version delivers all files in a single ZIP; the plugin saves them to a folder you choose.

Can I find out which track is which after exporting?

Yes. Each exported WAV stores its original file name invisibly inside the file — no player or file browser displays it, so the test stays blind. Open Reveal Exported Files in either the web version or the plugin and drop the file in to see the name. Files exported from the web version can be revealed in the plugin and vice versa.

Why does Reveal say "No stored name found"?

The stored name survives copying, renaming, and moving the file, but not re-saving: if the WAV was exported or processed by another program (a DAW, an audio editor, a converter), the new file no longer contains the name. Reveal only works on the files as exported by Blind Listening Test.

When I turn off Blind/Shuffle, do the tracks move?

No. Revealing never reshuffles. The names appear exactly where the hidden tracks were, so each letter shows what you were actually hearing. Tracks only shuffle when Blind/Shuffle is turned on or Shuffle is clicked.
